I remember myself wandering around looking for reviews in the past... so I'm writing this in the hope that it will be helpful to someone. I had double jaw surgery at a private hospital in Seoul in December 2021. I started my mission trip in May of that year. Currently, post-correction is in progress after completing the pin removal surgery. I remember the costs being 400 for correction, 1400 for surgery, and 200 for pin removal. Let me start with a review of the surgery itself. When I was under general anesthesia, I felt something cold entering my arm. I was counting in my head, and when I came to, I was on my way to the bed in the recovery room with the support of a nurse. For your information, I did not do any pain relief or urination, and as far as I know, a breathing tube was inserted into the airway, but there was no pain at all from the intubation. As soon as I came to my senses, I asked for my phone and took a selfie, but I didn't see any swelling, so I thought, "Oh what?" However, it started to swell from the inside out, making it increasingly difficult to breathe, and my cheeks were so swollen that it became difficult to open my eyes. There was no pain at all at the surgical site. I think the IV in the recovery room and the prescribed medication after discharge may be helpful. While I was hospitalized, my back was very painful because I had to stay at an angle, neither sitting nor lying down, on a bed with a raised backrest. I took water and orange juice through a syringe. I couldn't even breathe, so I didn't drink as much water as I could, but the nurse told me that I shouldn't drink too much and that I should drink at least a few cups, so I tried later. After spending two nights in the recovery room, I was discharged on the third day. The first few days after discharge were really difficult. The swelling, which I thought would subside in an instant, was still there, and my cheeks were so swollen that it was getting between my teeth and I couldn't close my mouth. Water and saliva were dripping from my mouth, so I had to hold up a towel, but the smell of the prescription medication was so bad that I had to wear a towel. I was having trouble breathing, so I was sleeping while sitting up and waking up several times, which made me cry. But I felt like it would be harder to breathe if I cried, so I just shed tears and couldn't cry. In my case, the bruises were quite severe, and 1/3 of my face turned completely black, like black skin. I was very worried that there was something wrong, but of course it is very clean now. The change in the front is very different to my eyes, but people around me couldn't recognize it right away just by looking at the front. It could be because I didn't touch the tip of my chin, or it could be because parts of my face other than my chin look characteristic. I'm not sure. The change in aspect is very clear. If you show me your profile, everyone will say oh! do. I've always wondered what it means for the upper teeth to cover the lower teeth, but the change in occlusion after surgery was so amazing and awkward that I kept tracing it with my tongue. It seems like the actual size of my mouth has become much smaller. Before the surgery, my body was quite big, so I used to wrap huge wraps and eat them in one mouth, but now I have to work hard to even eat tiny mini wraps. In the case of jowls... a double chin that wasn't there before the surgery even when I pulled my chin up now appears as soon as I lower my head haha. However, this is not due to sagging fat, but due to the size of the salivary glands or fat in the chin, the volume that was sufficient has been lost due to malocclusion. I think it was covered up, and I was prepared for it before the surgery, so I'm not overly stressed. Rather, in the case of the cheek fat, it gathers in accordance with the backward movement of the chin and settles down like a cute cheek fat, which is not nice. Lastly, I will tell you about the sensation. In the case of the upper jaw, there is no sensation as the nerves are necessarily cut during the surgical procedure. This is the area around the upper teeth, upper gums, and palate. In the case of the lower jaw, the sensation was slightly different at first from the tip of the left chin to the corner of the mouth. When my legs are numb due to lack of blood flow, I feel like electricity is flowing when I touch them + it feels like the anesthesia has not worn off. As for the lower jaw, it's come back quite a bit now. If I were asked to have double jaw surgery, I wouldn't do it even if I were to die, but if I had to go back in time and choose again, I would choose surgery.
