I had 3 jawline contouring procedures 2 years ago due to my protruding chin and 45-degree cheekbones. The results (6 months later) were very satisfying.
I was tall, had a large bone structure, and had a bumpy face, like a Moai statue. But after shaving my face, it became a soft, egg-shaped face.
But as time passed, I got greedy and got my eyes and nose done, and then I became interested in jawline contouring and double jaw surgery again...ㅋㅋㅋ
There are so many videos and articles advertising that the jawline effect is so dramatic. I got tempted again and lived without much dissatisfaction, but then I thought, 'Huh? Should I shave it off a little more? Don't my cheekbones still feel a little wide?' and started thinking about getting a second jawline contouring procedure. I visited all the famous jawline clinics. Mㅇㄷㅇ, ㅎㅅㅇ, ㅇㅇㅊ, etc.
But in conclusion, as someone who has had 3 jawline contouring procedures and studied them while looking into second jaw surgery, I want to say that 3 jawline contouring procedures are not as dramatic as I thought.
Of course it varies from person to person, but basically the head size should be small and other conditions should be met..
I'll share what I felt while studying + receiving counseling..
There's the width of the face. A wide-looking face, this could be due to the cheekbones, but it might not be. In my case, it was due to the temporomandibular joint. (Not the back) cheekbones. And there's no surgery that can reduce the width of the temporomandibular joint. (Serious side effects such as jaw opening disorder can occur.)
To check if your temporomandibular joint is wide, when you open your mouth, there's a part that sticks out. Look at how much it sticks out compared to the cheekbones. If you feel the temporomandibular joint and cheekbones, if the cheekbones are overwhelmingly protruding, the contour may be effective.
But for those who aren't, it won't be very effective. Even if it's reduced, it can only be reduced by the jaw joints.
But most people with wide faces also have wide jaw joints..ㅎㅎ;;;
And this time, I'll talk about the vertical length of the face
. If you have a long face due to a prognathism, you should definitely check whether it's a contour case or a bimaxillary case. And the way to check is to check if your teeth are aligned well. If your teeth match well (the lower teeth don't protrude further than the upper teeth ×) and your jaw is long, you can see a contouring effect just by cutting the jaw. (This is my case)
However, if the occlusion itself is crooked, it will be difficult if you do contouring surgery first to shave off the long jaw bone ㅠㅠ That's because occlusion is in the area of bimaxillary surgery. Contouring and bimaxillary surgery are difficult. That's because the symmetry itself is already crooked ㅠㅠ If you do bimaxillary surgery, the structure of the lower jaw will be adjusted to normal, but then the contouring that was already done will look strange... ㅠㅠ Those who are worried about their long jaw should definitely check whether it's contouring or bimaxillary surgery.
And for cases where the midface is long and the face looks long (assuming you don't do bimaxillary surgery), the face needs to be three-dimensional to make it look less long. You can make the face look forward by raising the nose, redistributing fat under the eyes, putting in fillers, etc.
But face shape trends change a lot. Short chins and baby-like faces were popular, then sophisticated chins with a certain degree of self-awareness became popular, etc.. Just loving your current face shape and changing your hairstyle can help you overcome a lot of complexes. So I hope you don't think of contouring as some kind of divine surgery. If I could go back, I don't think I would have gotten a square jaw. My chin looks a bit more sophisticated.
