I lived well all my life, but when I turned 40, I suddenly decided to have orthodontic treatment. My mouth wasn't protruding enough to require tooth extraction, and my teeth weren't that crooked, so I just did what the doctor told me to do and did it without even thinking about it. The result is a mouth with straight teeth and sharp teeth. The tooth that was supporting the philtrum went inward, so the philtrum became longer. I thought a lot about what to do about it, whether to open up the space where the tooth was extracted and plant an implant, but since I couldn't wear braces again, I decided to leave it alone and reduce the size of the teeth.
As a result of an Internet search, I found a plastic surgery center specializing in philtrum reduction called Golden View, and they performed philtrum reduction surgery on the entire area under the nose. This is a surgery that involves cutting the skin along the base of the nose, excising as much as necessary, and then sewing the shortened philtrum back to the base of the nose. The results are satisfactory. Widening the arch and moving the teeth forward again would be the most obvious way to return to the original mouth, but it would take a long time (since the teeth would have to be moved to widen the extraction space again), the teeth could become very weak, implants would be required, and in many ways it would be very expensive. Since it was an invasive method, I decided to be satisfied with philtrum reduction.

This surgery is recommended for people like me who have undergone orthodontic treatment or whose philtrum has become longer after double jaw surgery.
