[Protruding Mouth] If the gums are protruding, will they always go in after orthodontic treatment?

I'm undergoing orthodontic treatment, and the protruding mouth is due to my gums, so I'm  having a gummy smile. I didn't do this because it's too expensive, and there's a functional problem, so I'm just doing regular orthodontic treatment. I originally had one tooth extracted, and this time, I had another tooth extracted, for a total of two! But if a tooth is extracted, does it always go into the mouth? Is it because the gums are protruding that it goes in? ㅜ
