I had chin advancement at ㄴㅌ and it's been 2 weeks. This is a review written by date and what I felt at the time. I'm sure you have a lot of concerns, such as whether the surgery went well, and when you can start going to work, so I hope this was helpful.
Summary:
0.8mm chin advancement and slight secondary angle correction
1. Pain: The pain was severe on the day of the surgery, but bearable, and the pain from the oral sutures continued until they were pulled out.
2. Swelling: The worst on the 3rd day, and when the sutures were pulled out in the 2nd week, it went down to the point where I could take off my mask that afternoon.
3. My face and lips were swollen until the 3rd day, so the swelling that made it even more swollen was too much to bear
. 4. Going to work: I went to work on the 8th day, but due to the aftereffects of general anesthesia, my voice was not coming out well and my pronunciation was slurred, so I just pretended to have a cold and wore a mask. Until the 2nd week, I packed my own rice and ate it secretly.
5. Diet: Until the 3rd day, I only ate drinks, and after that, I ate liquid food like porridge with a Vera spoon. Starting from the 12th day, I'm trying to eat a regular diet.
6. Because my neck gets bruised, I recommend buying a neck tee and a half-neck tee in advance
. On the day of the surgery, send 5 photos of your desired face to the coordinator and she will display the photos in the operating room.
The interview with the director is very short, so it's important to be precise about how much you want, etc. so that it's easy for him to remember. (I couldn't do that.) He said he would remove 6-8mm and slightly trim the secondary angle for volume. (Eventually, 8mm was done) Later, because of the tongue muscles, etc., the bones were moved forward and the jaw was long, so I asked them to fix the bones well.
The anesthesiologist gave me anesthesia. After the anesthesia was over, I had a lot of pain and chills, but it got better. It hurt more than I thought, so I asked for painkillers as soon as I woke up, but they just gave them to me an hour before discharge, so I endured it.
Day 1) Bruised pain below the neck, pain on both sides of the jaw joint. I poured yogurt into a paper cup and ate it in the morning. Sore throat, headache, and overall pain below the lips. It was worse in the evening than in the morning. I went for a walk twice a day, morning and evening,
and sprayed Ko&Cool for an hour at night, and my nose was unclogged, but my throat was so sore that it was hard to breathe, and my throat was so sore and gurgling. My face was hot and sore and more swollen
. Day 2) It was similar to yesterday. It was more swollen than yesterday. My lips were so swollen that I kept drooling all night, and I had phlegm all night, and my airway was swollen, so it was hard to breathe. At dawn, I loosened the gag for about 3 minutes.
I took Newvein in the morning
and the swelling increased in the afternoon. My throat got better.
At around 5 am, I loosened the gag a bit and then tightened it again.
I felt anxious because my chin didn't come out properly.
Maybe it was because of the swelling. When I laid down to sleep at 12 am, it was too swollen and too painful, so I slightly loosened the gag and rested for about 3 minutes. My jaw felt sore because it was heavy due to the swelling.
Day 3) At 5 am, the swelling was difficult, so I woke up, loosened it, and massaged my lymph nodes. Low fever went
away. From 10:30 am, I just loosened it and had gags every 2 hours. Temporomandibular
joint pain. If you hold it inward and eat porridge, it's okay, but if you just do it, it feels like your chin is out. When I
first ate grated porridge, the left side of the stitches stung... I'm going to eat soup again starting in the evening... I'm still coughing up phlegm tonight.
The bruise is down my neck. It's slightly red.
Day 4) I didn't wear the brace and went to sleep, but I put it back on in the middle of the night and took it off again. I coughed up phlegm and spit it out as soon as I woke up.
When I wear
the brace, there's a sharp pain in my jaw. The swelling
feels a little better than yesterday. The bruise
on my neck is yellow. The stitches hurt, my lower
right lip is still swollen. I started taking Bruna in the evening.
My left jaw joint is particularly sore.
Day 5) I don't feel the stinging sensation when I sleep. The phlegm and coughing aren't bad.
When I wear the brace, there's a sharp pain in my jaw, my left lip is swollen but it's not going down, but it's slightly out overall compared to last night.
Occasionally coughing up phlegm, the left stitches sting, and my left jaw joint hurts.
I cut up cup ramen with scissors and eat it in the evening.
Day 6) Still The left stitch area stings, the bruise on my neck is getting worse, the area right below my jawline on the right side stings occasionally, I still have phlegm, I have phlegm when I talk, my throat is hoarse, and I have a hard time coughing, and the right side of my lip is still swollen
. Day 7) I took off the tape and got skin care. The director said that the stitches didn't burst and that it was fine, and that the pain in my left jaw joint will get better. But the consultation was really over in 30 seconds. My jaw seems to be very swollen and the area under my chin is bulging, and it still hurts when I pull it, especially the left stitch area, and the area that was advanced seems to have been anesthetized, the swelling in my lip went down in the evening, and the bruise on my right jawline
is big enough to fit two fingers.
Day 8) My chin is still heavy, my front jaw hurts when I pull it, my chin still looks long, there's more swelling on the right side
. Day 9) My left jaw joint is uncomfortable, my chin looks less long, I can put on light makeup, my lips still look thin, I'm doing a little bit of the "woo~" exercise. The left stitch still hurts. Possible to bite into soft bread
10 days) If you support it with a chin brace, the jaw joint is temporarily less uncomfortable. If you look right, the left stitch hurts. Since the jaw is formed, the cheekbone looks protruding. Peanut-shaped.
11 days) If you relax your lips and stay still, the left lip comes off. I tried eating for the first time, but my lips hurt, food goes into the stitches, and my mouth doesn't open well, so it's hard to eat. Since I don't wear a chin brace for a long time while working, my jaw is getting heavier. I sleep without loosening it.
12 days) I kept wearing a chin brace while sleeping yesterday, so it was a little swollen in the morning. Since it was swollen, the cheekbone doesn't look protruding
. At around 5:30 PM, my lower middle front tooth suddenly started to tingle, my jaw felt tight, it felt numb, and my jaw throbbed. It stops at night.
As the swelling goes down, you can see the secondary angle creases. Especially the right side. But it's much better than before the surgery. I still feel itchy at night, and when the swelling goes down a lot, my face doesn't look long at all
. (Day 13) Starting today, my voice seems to be coming out better with less phlegm, but I still have a cough. It's still really loud. Sometimes my lower front teeth sting, my jaw stings, and my lips still hurt. I think it's because the skin peeled and was swollen. The line on the right side of my lower lip feels anesthetized. I smiled brightly and my left lower jaw hurt
. People saw my face for the first time this afternoon and said I lost weight or something.
My boyfriend saw me for the first time and said I looked mature and still had a lot of swelling
. Day 14) The stitches were removed. The anesthetic spray made my eyes water. But now the stitch area doesn't hurt like before.
The director said he was on leave so I can't see the progress.
When I do "U~", my lower lip doesn't come out well. It feels like the incision is stuck to my gums.
My chin is still hard and I don't feel much.
When I put force on my chin, my mentalis muscle bulges out asymmetrically. I decided to wait and see until the first month.
The swelling has gone down a lot, but the area under my chin is still bulging so my jawline is not visible. The yellow bruises and bruises on my neck have gone down to the point where they're barely visible.
My temporomandibular joint is a little uncomfortable, but not so bad that it's hard.
