I spent 10 years regretting having epicanthoplasty, but while watching YouTube, I found out that there was a surgery called epicanthoplasty restoration, so I had the surgery right away!
My Gangnam sister and I were looking for hospitals at a community cafe, and Gangnam Mate Plastic Surgery was mentioned the most, so we got a consultation at Mate. It is a one-person hospital with only one director, Kim Geun-sik. So, I went there knowing that the waiting time was long because many reviews said it would be long. Even though I went to my reservation time, I wasn't informed right away, but it didn't take that long.
*Things you want to improve:
Excessive exposure of the eyebrows (excessive eyelids)
Improvement of a harsh impression (presbyopia)
Unnatural, sunken epicanthoplasty
between the eyebrows (at a distance that suits my face shape)
Loss of cute cheeks
*Questions asked during the consultation
-My eyes are still asymmetrical, but I need more Could it be asymmetric?
-Can the double eyelid line continue naturally after restoration?
-Can I have surgery on Saturday and go to work on Monday? (For office workers)
-The wedding is in November. Will the swelling go down if I have surgery in April?
-Time to fully settle
-The length of the epicanthoplasty in both eyes is different, so I hope the degree of restoration is different (balance). The right eye is more torn
-It's only the weekend, so it's time to loosen the stitches
-Current distance between the eyebrows / expected distance between the eyebrows after surgery
-Closing length of the epicanthoplasty
[ On the day of surgery]
Observe pre-surgery precautions (no medications including vitamins for a week, fast for 5 hours)
and visit the hospital. Change into surgical clothes, wash your face, fill out the precautions and consent form for surgery, and wait.
After entering the operating room, a small amount of sedative anesthetic is administered, and local anesthesia is administered to the eyes while under sedation. No pain at all. He came to his senses and the surgery began. During the surgery, I opened my eyes and the surgeon proceeded with the surgery while looking at my eyes in detail. Looking at other reviews, they said they showed the extent of restoration by showing a mirror in the middle, so I wondered if that was possible, but seeing it with my own eyes made it difficult to tell how the swelling would go down, but I was able to confirm the overall balance in real life, so I had faith. I opened and closed my eyes a hundred times. I think the surgery lasted about an hour. After the surgery is over, you can change your clothes in the recovery room, and when the dizziness goes away, you can go home after receiving simple management instructions at the counter. It was simpler than I thought and painless, so I thought I should have started sooner. I immediately took the express bus home and continued to apply cold compresses on the express bus. There is no pain even after the anesthesia wears off!
[1st month]
The recovery tape needs to be changed every day to help the epicanthoplasty restoration site gain weight quickly.
However, in order to prevent the stitches from loosening due to the adhesive of the tape while changing the tape, you need to soak the tape in saline solution on gauze, then remove it and replace it. This was really difficult for me. Actually, the stitches came out with the tape, so I had to be very careful. The bruising gets darker until the third day and then gradually disappears. You must be careful not to wash your face with water or pull the skin of the restoration area. Since I could only visit the hospital on weekends, I had my stitches removed within a week. Of course, it was possible after the director checked the condition and decided. Even after removing the stitches, I change the tape every day. The swelling seemed to go away after about 2 weeks. A month after removing the stitches, I visited the hospital and received a skin regeneration injection into the epicanthoplasty restoration area.
[2nd month]
You can apply makeup after a month, but in my case, the doctor said to postpone makeup a little longer because recovery is slow. Surprisingly, the red scar on the restored area did not disappear easily. You can cover it with concealer, but if you touch the blood, it doesn't hurt, but does it feel like it hurts? Since I heard this, I don’t walk as much as possible. Since I only need to light the tape when I sleep at night, I put it back on diligently. As the swelling goes down and settles down, I feel happy when I look in the mirror. I like it so much.
[3rd month]
I can completely wear makeup and the skin around my eyes is almost completely gone. A friend I haven't seen in a while tells me I'm pretty. People around me don't know what's changed. Even if epicanthoplasty was restored, I don't know the difference haha. But my impression has completely changed, so I am completely satisfied. I am applying scar ointment and regenerative tape alternately. Even when I go bare-faced, the redness has faded so much that I don't have to worry about it.
Because I have ptosis, I have a habit of opening my eyes with the force of my forehead, so Director Kim Geun-sik recommends forehead Botox once every three months, as doing so can cause the restored area to open. When I go to the hospital to get a skin regeneration injection, I also get forehead Botox. People who have blepharoptosis like me should take note!
[Review]
No one would believe me if I told them I had epicanthoplasty and then reconstruction surgery. I like it so much that I can't help but think I should have done it really quickly if I
was going to regret it. And even though I'm a very shy person, he spoke very kindly to me when I was getting the injections. You did it. The nurse next to me also held my hand while I was lying down and receiving the injection in my face, which gave me peace of mind and I was grateful. I always came up from the countryside to go to the hospital alone, and I can't tell you how fortunate I am to have my surgery at a kind and friendly hospital. I really highly recommend Mate Plastic Surgery.
