Has anyone tried to remove the thread from the double incision line?

I had a complete double incision, but the thread in the line inside keeps causing inflammation. It's itchy and suddenly swells. The doctor said I can just remove the thread in the line. Has anyone ever tried removing the thread? It's no different because of the swelling.. I couldn't go out for a month after the surgery because it was completely cut off. (I'm really worried because the swelling lasts for quite a long time.) Has anyone tried it? If you take out the thread, will the swelling be as much as the surgery? Please let me know...
