6 years ago, I had my third revision surgery with silicone + autologous ribs.
I thought it would be the last time and
went under the knife. It was a famous hospital in Gangnam, Seoul that does surgery with autologous ribs.
Fortunately, my rhinoplasty went well and I was satisfied with it, but
3 months ago, I suddenly woke up and my nose was swollen. The
tip of my nose started to swell, and overnight, I had a nosebleed. ㅜㅜ
When I went to an ENT clinic, they said it could be rhinitis. So
I contacted the hospital where I had the surgery and they told me to visit. I went all the way from Busan to Seoul. I was crazy.
I tried to control the inflammation with antibiotics and daily antibiotic injections,
but the inflammation didn't go away. After suffering for several months, they
decided to remove the silicone, so they removed only the silicone through a non-open procedure.
They left the costal cartilage in the tip of the nose...
They said that inflammation usually goes away when you remove the silicone... But when I removed the silicone and stopped taking the antibiotics, it relapsed in the tip of my nose. Is this possible???
Phew... So I went back to the hospital to have my nose opened and had irrigation and nasal washing.
This process took 3 months.
I had irrigation to remove the silicone in one month. I opened and closed my nose twice.
It was so hard. I wanted to die.
My home is in Busan, so I went back and forth between Seoul and Busan several times.
They say that autologous costochondritis doesn't cause inflammation. I think it wasn't a side effect of silicone
from the beginning,
but autologous costochondritis inflammation . The hospital said that it was silicone inflammation and that they had to remove the silicone.
If it was silicone inflammation, the bridge of my nose would have swollen and hurt, but
in my case, the tip of my nose was red and it was only the tip of my nose!!!!
The hospital said that even if it was a side effect of the autologous costochondritis, since it was mine, it could be treated to some extent with medicine. Phew...
Today is the day to have the stitches removed after the irrigation, so I'm on my way to Seoul.
My nose tip looks red again, so I wonder if the inflammation has relapsed.
I'm so anxious that I'm writing a few words, but I'm so annoyed that
I'm going crazy. Is there anyone who suffered from costal cartilage inflammation like me?
