Call the hospital and ask if it is a stitch that cannot be removed (a stitch that naturally pops out of the mouth over time).

I had it removed on the 5th day, and it really didn't hurt that much. It was originally removed on the 5th day, but if you're worried about pain, you can have it removed on the 6th or 7th day. The nurse said it would be much less painful.
