Is it necessary to wear a pad when performing revision surgery for see-through nose tip?

It's been 6 months since I had nose surgery..
 
Do I need to wear pads when I have revision surgery for the tip of my nose?

I put two layers of ear cartilage in the tip of my nose, but it has a see-through effect
 
. If I touch it from the outside, I can feel the outline.
 
I scheduled a date for reoperation at the hospital where I had the surgery, but
 
the doctor said that instead of adding dermis or anything like that, they just removed one layer, trimmed it, and put a silicone lower layer to fit the tip of the nose. I heard that
 
if I just remove one layer, will my thinned skin come back? I wonder if it will show again.
