As an adult, I'm undergoing preoperative orthodontic treatment, and I'm scheduled for surgery in December of this year.
 
Because of the malocclusion, it's so bad that I have chewing problems and can't close my mouth well, so
 I'm getting treatment. The purpose is the most important, but I have a lot of complexes because of the nicknames I've been given since childhood, so I want to be prettier cosmetically...

The longer the correction period, the worse the facial appearance is compared to before correction (including asymmetry). I hope you think carefully about the degree of correction before receiving it. The longer the period of correction, the more meticulous you can be, but it's still like this. The deterioration of the facial appearance worsens, the pronunciation becomes more leaky, and the period of treatment becomes longer, so the stress is not enough. I think those with severe malocclusion will understand what I am saying (current ongoing). If I were to go back to before correction, I think I would have at least looked into places where correction was done before surgery. . (Proofreaders and teachers are also important.
