I had an unexpected nose revision surgery in December of last year, and
I posted
a review of the revision surgery with photos attached here at Seongyesa.
For reference, I had my nostrils lowered . At my point, it was a dragon nose and the nasal recession was a bit severe,
so I had to have a frontal nose surgery. When I looked at it from the side, I didn't like the exposure of my nostrils and
wanted to improve it, but it ended up being a big disaster
. To sum it up,
I received a full refund of the consolation money and surgery fee from the Korean Medical Association's Medical Compensation Mutual Aid Association
.
Around June 2016 , I had a nostril lowering surgery done
by Pay Doctor at another hospital, and
it was a disaster . I asked for the implants to be removed six months later, and
they said they were completely removed.
The result of the first surgery was a double nose, and
it looked like I had raised the nostrils instead of lowering the nostrils. In other words , it
has become a so-called lump.
Anyway, according to what the director said, it is correct that there is nothing in the nose,
but as time goes by, when I wake up, my nose is swollen
and swollen, and when I touch both nostril wings,
it feels dull as if there is something there, and as time goes by, my nose becomes deformed. It started to come out.
It was hard to breathe because of
how the inside of my nose was scraped and pinched,
and my chest was even more sore , my columella was bent, the tip of my nose was sagging, the bone near my beak was shining,
my nostrils were more lifted, and these symptoms
were progressing rapidly. If I leave it like this, I'm going to be in big trouble. I wanted
to go to an otolaryngology clinic in the area where I live and
had a test done, and it
turned out that my nasal septum was deviated . I set a date for the surgery and spent dozens of tests, but...
I didn't have the courage, and
I thought that this might be caused by a deviated nasal septum, so I went to a specialist for nose revision surgery. I started to sell
the hospital
. I live in a rural area, so I rushed
around twice . I canceled the otolaryngology surgery. I canceled the nose surgery twice. I
messed up the first surgery so badly that I didn't have the courage,
I was afraid, and I couldn't believe it.
But my nose was rapidly deforming. After seeing it , I decided
to find out who was really good at it and proceed with the surgery before it was too late, so
I went back to Seoul and went for consultations. The other places were big hospitals and had many doctors, but
there was no place that provided easy consultations. There was
only one place I had to go to for consultations. The hospital I wanted to go to was so backed up
that I didn't even make a reservation, so I got on the waiting list so I could go right away when someone else canceled
. I was really lucky and
had reservations at two hospitals, so I got a call asking if I could come from the hospital I was waiting for,
and fortunately, I was in the middle between the hospitals I had reservations
at. They said I could come when it was raining, so
I went right away. It was a private hospital with only one otolaryngology specialist, and
he also did functional plastic surgery.
I took a CT scan and received detailed consultation.
He knew what I was worried about and
gave me very kind and slow consultation.
At other hospitals, the consultation director came in with me and said
a few words. I didn't even do it, but I had to point to the clock and
go into the operating room. It was just uncomfortable consultations like this,
something that didn't make sense to me and I didn't trust him,
but this person was different. So I decided to have the surgery, and
for the rest, I made a schedule with the director,
heard the cost of the surgery, and had the surgery a week later. I decided to do it
. Before leaving the hospital and going back to my accommodation,
I received a call from the counseling director saying that I needed to pay a deposit, but
the person whose surgery was scheduled for two days later
had a bad cold and was running out of time, so they quickly
changed it to that day. For some reason , I had a feeling that
this was going to go well. Anyway,
I had already dragged my suitcase
to proceed with the surgery if possible after the consultation, so
I thought it was a very good thing
for me . Two days later, the surgery time was at night. I went there,
and the director appealed to the director by saying that he even packed his luggage from the countryside and came
to Vietnam at 5 a.m. the next day for
a seminar. He said he was going.
Despite the fatigue, I went into surgery late at night,
took about 3 hours, and finished almost at dawn.
So I went back to my dorm and my own fight
began. The next day, I went for disinfection and saw the doctor, but
the inside of my nose was a mess, the donor ribs were protruding, and the bridge of my nose was gone . The ear cartilage that had been transplanted to the dog
was also not fully removed.
At that moment, I had a mental breakdown and thought, ‘What is this?’
After disinfection, I went to the hospital where I had my first surgery.
I called and explained the situation.
However, the surgery record clearly said that it was a donated cartilage,
but I did not receive it at the time of the surgery.
Even if it was a donated rib, additional costs would have been incurred, but
I admitted that I had not received it.
So, the surgical record and nursing record. I asked for photos before and after the surgery, and
when I went to get the documents,
I talked to the director of the legal department and complained.
Fortunately, the director told me that since the hospital
would not issue a separate refund, I filed a complaint with the Medical Mutual Aid Association, and
when the employee called, I appealed from my perspective as much as possible.
Thank you for letting me know, I said I would help as much as I can.
I also took out the plastic surgery documents and the report from the hospital where I had the reoperation and
collected and submitted the payment for the reoperation. Although
the hospital moved and became bigger,
I was surprised at their willingness to accept and help, and
I am truly grateful. I thought it was a relief
and found the director on the Internet who had resigned from that hospital early on.
However, as expected, he had resigned from that hospital and is now affiliated with this hospital, so
I should go there and ask for a solution regarding
the surgery performed at that hospital.
Of course, the director said, No, it's the person at the desk...
So I just said I had something to check and wanted an apology
, but that didn't work and I couldn't contact them.
So I spoke to the director of the legal department, and
he gave me his phone number and told me to call him.
I called and was treated at that hospital. When I said I would refuse,
he said he would send me a warning letter. I called the hospital the next day, and
for some reason, he kindly
said he would make an appointment and let me see the director. I simply
wanted to see him in person, acknowledge him, and receive an apology.
But he kept changing the structure of my nose. He avoided answering
the questions I asked
and only gave strange explanations . And he said you can claim compensation. I have nothing to lose,
so you can proceed if you want.
It wasn't like I was giving up, but I felt really bad.
I really wanted to do that, but the refund was already
in progress. Anyway,
he knew
that the refund was in progress , and he said he would help me get a refund as much as possible. So, he said that if I visit the hospital where I was previously affiliated,
fill out the documents, and submit them, the review will begin immediately.
I did not receive an apology, but I said that it was a good thing, but
3 months later, from March. A refund case that was in progress was concluded a week ago and a
consolation prize of 3 million won plus 4.8 million won was sent. They asked me to fill it out and send it along with a copy of the bank account receipt for the deposit, so I sent it to them.
However , I was honestly very surprised when I received a call saying that this was the conclusion.
When I
met and talked to the staff, I felt really unfair and
angry, but if I could get some refund,
I said that I would pay 150 won for the implant removal fee. If I were to be greedy, I wanted about 300 won for the nose surgery fee
that I paid for the first time.
My personality is a bit timid and irritable in that regard.
Because this was not the case, I gently and carefully told
the hospital and the staff.
When asked how much I thought the refund amount would be,
I simply said that I wanted to admit the mistake and receive an apology,
but they said that it would probably be difficult to just admit it and receive an apology,
so I was devastated and did not receive a refund amount. To be honest
, I would like to receive the same amount as the cost of the reoperation, but that's
just my greed, so I don't want that much.
I don't want to ask for even a small amount for the pain I suffered and the time I wasted.
They also said that I might not be able to receive even a small amount,
but the price was unexpectedly high. I was surprised by this, and
since the surgery was paid in installments by maxing out my credit card during the reoperation,
it was good that that part was resolved,
and I thought it was a good thing that I didn't end up in a lawsuit.
Well , I was curious about what
the conclusion would have been if I had offered an exorbitant amount,
but first of all, the hospital violated its obligation to explain. In addition,
60% negligence was acknowledged, so 200% was paid by the plastic surgeon and
the remainder was paid by the mutual aid association.
In some ways, I thought that even though it was a large hospital, it had some conscience, and I
was grateful for the active help.
I heard that cases like this are not common, but
the hospital responded. It was positive and I was lucky.
I decided to end this on something of some consolation
. And I heard that if a problem occurs after 3 years,
a refund will not be issued.
It's not exact, so just use it as a reference...
And now, it's been 6 months since the revision surgery, so I watched it further and
decided to trim the ribs at the tip of my nose a little shorter and
make it more naturally round. Maybe it's
because my nose isn't short, but after using the ribs,
all the swelling went down and the shape improved. I was caught, but the tip of my nose
was missing too much so it looked longer, so
I said I wanted a little correction. The director also said that absorption
could last up to a year, so I'll watch it a little more and
have it corrected if it bothers me even then.
I think I'll just have to pay the anesthesia fee.
I am thankful that they saved my nose as much as possible, but
it is also funny that people are so treacherous and want to correct
the parts they don't like.
I will say goodbye to plastic surgery once the correction is completed.
If you are suffering like me, have courage and
try it. I will support
you. The thing I regret most in my 37 years of life is having a nose job.
If I go back, I will never get a nose job.
