Desire for a double eyelid surgery - Search for a hospital - Give up after seeing side effect reviews - Desire for a double eyelid surgery again - Search - Give up…
Repeating this process endlessly for 3 years.
Finally, I mustered up my courage and visited 3 hospitals for consultation.
First of all, the criteria for choosing a hospital was the surgical method.
I don’t like eyes with excessive double eyelid surgery, so I didn’t even list hospitals that use a surgical method that pulls the eyelid incision and fixes it to the periosteum with thread. I excluded non-incision surgery because it is said to come off quickly.
So I decided on 3 places where the doctor performs surgery in his own way.
1) Skin excision double eyelid surgery hospital
It is not a double eyelid surgery specialty hospital and is not famous, but the director wrote about the double eyelid surgery method and his philosophy in great detail on his blog, so I read the blog for about 6 months and made an appointment to visit.
It is a method where the skin is incised along the eye area without touching the mucosa, the eye is pulled down into the empty space, and the remaining skin is sutured. Since the shape of the tail of the eye is not touched, there is an advantage in that there is no ㄷ-shaped scar or scar.
However, since it is not fixed, there is a disadvantage in that it is impossible to know how the sutured skin will settle. And compared to the amount of skin cut, the effect shown in the photo is too minimal. So I decided not to visit on the day of the reservation and canceled.
(If you search for the hospital name on Naver and search for surgical method, a blog will come up, and there are many photos of the surgery reviews.)
2) Micro-incision + lowering the corner of the eye
This hospital seems to do a lot of trimming, so there were many photos of the reviews. A YouTuber uploaded a detailed diary, and the changes were dramatic even in the video, and the stitches were barely visible on the day of the surgery, so I decided to go to the hospital unconditionally.
I could intuitively understand the micro-incision, but I was curious about how the corners of the eyes were lowered. It was a method of pulling the corners of the eyes with thread after the micro-incision and fixing them to the periosteum. In the end, it seems similar to the surgical methods of other hospitals, but the difference seems to be that they do not do the lower trimming at the same time, but only pull the corners of the eyes. As a result, the results are natural, and among the hospital reviews I have seen, this one had the least amount of stitches, swelling, and congestion.
First of all, judging from the review photos, I could definitely feel that this was the most effective surgery for my eye shape, and since the incision and suture areas are very small, I thought there wouldn't be much scarring, so I was very attracted to it. Most of the reviews say that the maintenance period is not long, but that's the case with all double eyelid surgeries...
The director doesn't talk much and is very blunt, but the director was friendly and nice.
3) Muscle repositioning hospital
I found a video of the hospital while searching for double eyelid surgeries on YouTube, and the director looked cool because he looked confident. He uses his own method of surgery to solve the side effects of the existing double eyelid surgery, and I felt a great sense of pride in that.
Usually, double eyelid surgeries touch the periosteum or ligaments, but I was curious because they repositioned the muscles. According to the director's explanation, instead of cutting the mucosa, they resected the back of the eye by leaving the entire double eyelid area, and removed the muscles under the eyes. They lowered the double eyelid into the empty space where the muscles were removed, and pulled the muscles up and sutured them. Since the muscle that pulls the eye up is moved, the tendency of the eyes to rise upward is restrained, so the phenomenon of the eyes sticking together is said to not occur with the surgery.
However, the degree of opening is minimal, about 3-4mm, compared to surgical methods that touch the muscles. Since there is no change in the tail of the eye, the shape of the eye does not change much, so the surgery is not very noticeable, which seems to be both an advantage and a disadvantage? They say the eyes do not stick together, but if the change is minimal, I wonder if that is even meaningful. I am worried that moving the muscles will reduce the elasticity of the eye area later.
However, the director is very smart, and the hospital is clean overall, so I feel trustworthy. I think hospital 2 would be the best for my eye shape, but I want to do it at hospital 3 for no reasonㅋ
The cost was the same for both hospitals.
I haven't decided on a hospital yet, so I think I'll be thinking about it for a while!!
