I have a mild skeletal protrusion where my maxilla protrudes more than my teeth. My mandible is fine. It's just that the upper part looks like a duck's mouth.
I've been to several orthodontic clinics, but they don't recommend much correction. They said that if I correct one area, the protrusion will improve somewhat, but since it's a skeletal protrusion, the A-point, which is the area above my philtrum, won't go in. Since I'm genetically missing one in the middle of my lower teeth, my upper and lower teeth are slightly apart. ㅜㅜ They
said that they'd extract two of my upper teeth and one in the middle of my lower teeth before doing the correction, and that it would take about 3 years. Even if it takes a long time, I think I'll be somewhat dissatisfied because the A-point won't go in....
Also, my molars are currently interlocking very well, but they said that if I get correction, the occlusion will change in the opposite direction and interlock.
The university hospital suggested that I just get surgery.
Is there anyone with a similar case to mine who would recommend this?
