How do you manage swelling after double treatment?

I had surgery last week! It's been about 6 days.
 The swelling was so severe
 that I was worried about what would happen if it didn't go down until the 3rd or 4th day after the surgery, but it seems to be starting to subside...ㅠㅠ
 The lines look clean, so I hope the swelling goes down like this.
 They said the incision had more swelling. It's good for losing weight, so
 I turn around a lot and sleep with my upper body upright. It's
 
different for each person, but how long does it take before I can say the swelling has gone down?
And which is better, a cold compress or a hot compress?
All you have to do is continue using the compress, right??
(I have a lot of questions, right??? Hehe....lol)
