I had severe overlapping teeth, so I had them corrected, and it took about a year and a half, and now I'm wearing a retainer! I expected it to take about 2 years, but I worked hard to put on the rubber band and it was over quickly!
It may be different for each person, but I had 4 teeth extracted, 2 on top and 2 on the bottom. Having a tooth pulled out feels weird compared to when you're under anesthesia and when it comes off, but it's still less scary than I thought and it doesn't hurt at all! And when braces are done, they tell you to keep the rubber band on for a long time, which is really annoying. I was told that the correction would be completed quickly if I worked hard, so I worked as hard as I could! When I first started orthodontics, after going to the dentist, it hurt so much that I couldn't even chew or eat porridge, but after going to the dentist for a long time, it doesn't hurt and I get used to it. When I was in a lot of pain, I took Tylenol and it helped. What was really difficult about braces was that it was difficult to eat things like radish radish or chicken with my teeth. And since it is transparent, it changes color when I eat curry or mustard, so I don't eat it. Food with curry in it also changes color. Lastly, I worked hard to get the retainer at first because they told me to do it all day, but as time goes by, it gets really annoying. But after a year, I was told to only do it before going to bed, so now I only do it at night. If you don't wear your retainer for even a day, you will feel your teeth becoming crooked. It's important to keep doing it! And it's best to be careful not to break the retainer. My friend said he broke it 4 times. The retainer costs a separate fee, but it's more expensive than you think. If you don't eat while wearing the retainer, it won't break much.
Although it was uncomfortable and difficult during the correction, I am really satisfied now and have more confidence in smiling than before. Everyone, please be patient and do your best at what the dentist tells you to do :-)
