Hello~! I have been stressed out because of my protruding face line since I was young, and when I became an adult, I went to the dentist to get braces, but braces are just braces. My bite was right, but my fundamental face line wasn't corrected as much as I wanted. The dentist recommended double jaw surgery, but I was so scared of the surgery that I kept putting it off. Then one day, I thought, "I only live once, so I might as well do it instead of worrying about it and getting stressed out like this!!" So I started looking for hospitals famous for double jaw surgery. Since it's a surgery that touches the face, I wanted a hospital that could also specialize in the oral area, so I looked around at hospitals specializing in oral and maxillofacial surgery, and among the many hospitals, I ended up consulting at the Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Dental Clinic. The best part about the consultation was that the director told me specifically what areas I could improve and how he would do the surgery to fit my face shape, so I trusted him first. I also liked the fact that he only gave me advice on the necessary parts without going overboard. I liked the part where they filmed the surgery on CCTV and that I could watch it if I wanted to, and the hospital director and staff were really kind. After a short thought, I made a reservation for the surgery date and decided to have double jaw surgery and 2 types of contouring (square jaw + chin tip). I had anemia during the pre-surgery test, so the hospital recommended that I take iron supplements and iron injections, so I took the iron injections 4 times and the iron supplements before the surgery and had the surgery. [Day 1 of the surgery] I fasted from 11 PM the day before and the surgery started at 10 AM that day, so I went to the hospital by 9:30 AM. I didn't have any worries until the day before, but I was nervous when I actually got to the hospital. Still, I thought that it was the day I would get rid of my life's worries, so I tried my best to relax and went into the operating room. I went into the operating room a little after 10 AM, and the surgery was over at 1:50 PM. There were many reviews saying that they were very sleepy and thirsty after the surgery, but I didn't feel sleepy or thirsty, and some people say that they have trouble breathing from the beginning, but I was able to breathe because there was a tube in my nose. Instead, when I opened my eyes, I felt dizzy as if I had severe motion sickness, and my teeth hurt so much as if I had a severe toothache... And I couldn't lie down and had to sit all day, so my butt hurt so much ㅠㅠ The pain was worse than I thought, so I just waited for time to pass quickly.. But... time really didn't pass..ㅎㅎ... I had severe motion sickness in the middle, so I took medication to relieve it, and they said that they would remove the catheter and urethra at 8 AM the next day, so I just waited for that time. I was in so much pain that I could barely sleep, and I didn't have the energy to use my phone, so the director called my parents. The director came every so often to check on my condition, and they said that it would get better if I just held out for a day, so I held out for a day. Still, the nurse came every hour throughout the night and changed the ice pack and took good care of me, so I was able to get through the day without any trouble even without a guardian. [Day 2] After 8 AM, I removed the catheter and the drainage tube and put on the wafer that was fitted. Now that I could walk, my butt hurt so much, so I tried to walk around the hospital as much as possible, walking around a little and then standing. The pain was a little less than the first day, but it became difficult to breathe through my nose when the cohose was removed. I knew in advance that breathing would be difficult after surgery, so I tried to adjust by breathing through my mouth as much as possible. Still, I was so out of it because of the pain and my throat was swollen that it was hard to eat, so I barely managed to eat one pack of Newcare. I slept a little more than the first day, but because of the pain and breathing difficulties, I think I spent the whole night sleeping for about 15 minutes every hour. It was still bearable compared to the first day..! When the pain was less, I spent my time walking around. [Days 3-5] It was the day of discharge, so I had laser treatment on swelling in the morning, listened to the nurse explain the precautions after discharge, and was discharged around 11 o'clock with my parents who came to pick me up. The hospital said that I would continue to swell until the 5th day, but I really did swell more each day... I was so swollen that my cheeks felt heavy.. It was really hard to take medicine because I kept swelling.ㅠㅠ Still, I took medicine regularly because I was afraid of a quick recovery and inflammation. It was still hard to eat, so I only took Newcare. I still had some pain, so I had no appetite. Still, I tried to walk steadily for 30 minutes to an hour in the morning and evening. My nose kept bleeding, so I had to wear gauze, and I couldn't sleep deeply because my breathing was difficult. Still, I was told that after a week, my nose would be unclogged and the swelling would gradually go down, so I spent each day thinking that I would hold on until then. [Day 1] Amazingly, after about a week, my nose was unclogged little by little and the nosebleeds had decreased so much that I didn't have to wear gauze. The pain also decreased a lot, and from this point on, my condition definitely improved. I used to eat only Newcare, but from this point on, I started eating porridge. I don't like bread, so I just ate porridge, fruit juice, and ice cream. As I started eating a little more, my stamina came back a lot, my breathing became easier than before, and I started sleeping a little more soundly. [8 days~2 weeks] After a week, the swelling started to go down little by little as each day passed, and on the 10th day, my nose was completely unclogged, so I started sleeping lying down from that day. I also took walks for an hour in the morning and evening, and did hot compresses often. I didn't eat much differently than I did the first week. The first week after the surgery was really hard, but after a week, I felt much better. Everyone! Even I, who can't stand pain well and am timid, endured it, so I can endure it..! From this point on, the discomfort was greater than the pain, but I got used to it. However, my face is still very swollen, so I still don't have a jawline when I look at the front... If you look at the picture before the surgery, I had a sharp chin and an overall V-line, so I wasn't dissatisfied with my front view, so I'm still a little depressed when I look in the mirror, but my side view has improved to fit my face shape as much as I wanted, so I'm really satisfied..! I'm waiting for the swelling to go down and my old jawline to come back. Since the swelling is a battle with time, I decided to wait a little longer. In the second week, I visited the hospital and had the stitches removed and received laser treatment for swelling. I was worried because many people said that stitches are painful , but it was only a little painful and they removed them quickly. It didn't hurt as much as I worried. As long as there is no inflammation in your mouth, you don't have to worry too much about stitches. The director said that there is no inflammation and that it is healing well, and told me to start exercising my mouth hard from now on. He said that the swelling will go down by 40-50% in a month, so I decided not to stress too much and wait. After the stitches were removed, there was definitely no pulling sensation, so my mouth felt much more comfortable. Now, after a little over two weeks, the pain is almost gone, and since I can't chew yet, I have to eat only foods that I can swallow without chewing, like porridge and steamed eggs. Except for a little loss of stamina, I can go about my daily life without difficulty. I've gotten used to the wafer a lot and it's fine to do, but it's uncomfortable to talk, so I want to take it off quicklyㅎㅎ For those of you who are preparing for double jaw surgery, since it was a difficult decision, if you just endure the first week after the surgery, time will pass quickly and you'll be able to endure it, so don't worry too much..! If you think as positively as possible and follow the hospital's instructions, you'll be able to recover safely! Fighting! ㅎㅎ -4th week It's already been 4 weeks since the surgery. When I went to the hospital, the director said that I was healing well and removed the wafer~ I feel relievedㅎㅎ Finally.. She said that I can chew mainly soft foods, so from that day on, I've been eating a regular soft diet. I'm really happy that I can chew.. According to other people's reviews, the swelling in my cheeks went down a lot after a month, but my swelling didn't go down as much as I thought... I'm actually really stressed out, but the director said that 40-50% of it has gone down now, and that if I take a picture in 3 months and compare, it will have gone down a lot, so I'm going to calm down and wait..! It's been 4 weeks now and I don't feel much pain except for the occasional throbbing pain as if I 'm starting to feel better. However, my mouth is still very swollen, so it's still a bit difficult to talk or eat for a long time or to wake up in the morning. My face is more swollen in the morning so it feels heavy. ㅎㅎ... Still, after a month, my daily life has become much easier. I hope the swelling goes down soon. ㅎㅎ
