By performing virtual surgery using a face guide, it is possible to perform surgery that closely matches the results in the operating room, but the disadvantage is that the pins from the first surgery must be removed for reoperation.
I had a lot of concerns because it required 3 incisions (4 if the pins were removed for reoperation), but I proceeded with pin removal to ensure a safe and successful reoperation.
Since I was about to undergo double jaw revision surgery, I did not want to proceed with general anesthesia for pin removal. Therefore, the pin removal was performed at The Face Dental Clinic, which can remove pins under sedation.
Additionally, we also performed extraction of the wisdom teeth of the lower jaw. Since the location of the wisdom tooth is close to the nerve line, we were told in advance about the possibility of sensory damage, but the doctor extracted it well and I am recovering without damage. (The surgical cost mentioned above is the cost of pin removal alone and a separate cost for wisdom tooth extraction. has been imposed).
A single-person hospital room was set up, and since it was anesthesia under sedation, the surgery was performed immediately without complicated procedures, and there was no significant pain or discomfort when the patient woke up from anesthesia. In a situation where pins had to be removed for reoperation, it would have been 2-3 times more difficult if the only option was general anesthesia, but I felt fortunate that the pins could be removed under sedation.
After the surgery, the nurses recommended that I lie down in the hospital bed a little longer, but I did not experience any discomfort and was discharged immediately using public transportation shortly after the surgery.
After the surgery, I checked the removed pin through an X-ray, received a prescription for medication, and went home. A week has now passed and there is still some swelling, but compared to the first 3-4 days, the pain, swelling, and discomfort have greatly decreased, and there are no problems with daily life at all.
Following the successful pin removal surgery, I am praying that the double jaw revision surgery will also be successful.
