Hello,
I have a complex of facial asymmetry and lower jaw crossbite (a protruding jaw where the lower front teeth come out ahead of the upper teeth), so I underwent double jaw surgery and 2 types of contouring (square jaw, front jaw) at Y Oral Surgery on August 7th last year.
It has been 11 months since the surgery. It's my car.
It's been 10 months since surgery, and it seems like time has passed really quickly!
It's time to remove the pins about 6 months to a year after surgery, so I thought it would be better to do it as soon as possible, so I had the pins removed this time!
I was very nervous because I thought I would have to have another surgery, but I was able to undergo the surgery without worry because the surgery time was shorter than double jaw surgery and I was advised that my health was good enough to leave the hospital on my own after the surgery on the same day!
After the surgery, waking up from the anesthesia was the hardest. They told me I couldn't fall asleep, so I held on by taking deep breaths, but I think I dozed off.
2-3 hours after the surgery, I woke up from the anesthesia and was able to play with my phone and be discharged at 4 o'clock. When I looked at my face in the mirror, I could see that my face was swollen, so I had to wear a mask and hood and be discharged! I think the swelling continued for 3 to 4 days, just like it was after surgery!
As expected, it was a bit difficult because of the swelling, but since I was able to open my mouth compared to when I had double jaw surgery, I was able to eat simple rice and bread and soft foods, excluding irritating foods. Now that I could eat food, I was able to be more active than before, and the swelling went away quickly. same! I think I've lost enough weight to be able to go out without a mask a little over 2 weeks after surgery! There's still some swelling, so it looks chubby when I take the picture, but if I work hard, it'll all go away before I know it haha!
Now that I have graduated from orthognathic surgery, I feel relieved!
If you are worried about pin removal surgery, I hope you get it as it is nothing compared to double jaw surgery.
