<수술직전><수술 2주차>I am writing this review in hopes that it will be of some help to those who are having a hard time due to the side effects of facial contouring surgery like me.
I had facial contouring surgery (V-line osteotomy + cheekbone surgery) at a plastic surgery clinic in Gangnam in March 2018.
I had high expectations, but the results of the surgery were not good.
At the time, I didn’t worry much about the side effects of facial contouring (of course, worrying about it won’t change the results of the surgery),
and I made a hasty decision just because I wanted to get rid of my complex as soon as possible.
Anyway, as a result of the V-bone osteotomy,
the muscles that had been detached around the front chin were not able to return to their original positions and sagged, and
from then on, I experienced extreme tightness and heaviness in my “witch chin” face + front chin area.
At first, I thought it was because of the swelling and scarring from the surgery, and it would gradually get better, but…
6 months, 1 year, 2 years… Time kept passing. My faith was broken, and
I ended up spending days more miserable than before the surgery due to the completely unchanged appearance and symptoms.
At some point, I developed a habit of covering my mouth because I was concerned about my lower gums showing too much when eating or talking to someone, and
since it was difficult for me to completely close my mouth, I always had to hold my lips with my hand and gargle when brushing my teeth.
Also, every morning when I woke up, my mouth was dry, my throat was sore, and my respiratory health was getting worse...
There were more than one or two inconveniences.
So I tried all the treatments I could to relieve this discomfort.
1. High frequency
2. Extracorporeal shock wave therapy
3. Excision injection (steroid, non-steroid)
4. Excision acupuncture (Oriental medicine clinic)
5. Mandibular botox
, etc.
There was some improvement, but none of them worked...
In the end, I started looking for a new method again. Then
I learned that there is a surgery called "mandibular muscle repositioning" and
that there are two types of surgery (submental incision, intraoral incision).
In 2021, I chose the submental incision surgery first. (It was a decision made after considering the cost of surgery and recovery period at the time.) Since
the sagging skin and muscles were completely cut off through the submental incision, there was some improvement in appearance.
The witch’s chin disappeared.
However, because the amount of excision was large, the skin tension in the scar area increased, so a large scar was formed under the chin even though it was not a skin type that would leave many scars.
And above all, the heavy, heavy, and tight feeling of the chin did not improve at all.
That’s how I ended up here.
In August of this year, I had the final surgery at the most famous plastic surgery clinic for intraoral incision-type frontal muscle repositioning surgery.
It’s been two weeks since the surgery, and I think this is the end.
My gums are still swollen and scarred, so they feel heavy, but they feel much lighter than before, and
my lower lip touches my upper lip without having to force my mouth… This is completely natural and normal… I have mixed feelings. ㅠ
And my front chin seems to have gotten a little shorter than before. However, as the chin muscles that were sagging underneath were pulled up, the surrounding skin and the scar from the previous chin surgery were pulled up together, so the scar became more visible, which is a bit disappointing.
But, aside from everything else, I am satisfied with just this one thing: the heaviness of my chin is gone.
I hope this can be of help to anyone who is suffering.
