I got double eyelid surgery during the winter break between my first and second year of high school. I regret it even though I often hear people say I look pretty or look like a celebrity after getting the surgery. I miss my old face, my lines are uneven, and my impression is too strong.
Also, I recommend that you get it after you become an adult. When I got the surgery, my face was changing a lot. Until the beginning of my first year of high school, my ptosis was so severe that my eyes looked like buttonholes. So I waited for the winter break, thinking that I absolutely had to get the surgery. And I got the surgery right after the winter break.
At that time, I didn’t analyze or observe my face properly and just got the surgery. The reason is that first of all, my eyesight is really bad and I didn’t wear contact lenses at the time, so I didn’t even know what my face looked like without my glasses. When I looked at pictures, I felt ugly and unnatural. So I think I thought that if I got the surgery, everything would get better.
And I just thought that double eyelids were unconditionally unpretty. I didn’t even know that the shape or size of the eyes could change depending on the eye muscles. So I didn’t try much other than surgery and got double eyelids. I tried a few YouTube eye-enlarging exercises and thought that these things wouldn’t work, so I gave up. The reason
I became prettier after getting double eyelids wasn’t just because I had double eyelids. Because I had double eyelids, I tried wearing contact lenses and put on more makeup than I usually did. I also got braces, so my lower face improved, and when I compared it to my old photos, I felt that not only my eyes but my entire face had become prettier. Also, when I looked at my photos right before getting plastic surgery, I saw that my face had changed a lot as I grew up. My nose bridge, which wasn’t there in middle school, suddenly grew in high school, so my facial features became more distinct, but I didn’t notice it before getting double eyelids.
These days, there’s even a saying that double eyelids aren’t even considered plastic surgery, because so many people get double eyelids at a young age. But when you have double eyelid surgery, you focus on your eye complex and don’t pay attention to other parts of your face at all, or your pretty eyes are buried because your eye opening strength is weak, but instead of changing your usual habits, you
tend to get plastic surgery.
So here are some things you should do before getting double eyelid surgery
: 1. Strengthen your eye opening strength. Don’t just open your eyes wide a few times and give up, but be conscious of it and keep doing it until they grow bigger. For those who wear glasses, you may have developed a habit of lifting your eyebrows because of your glasses, so I recommend wearing clear lenses or changing to light frames if possible. Even now that I have double eyelid surgery, my old glasses are so heavy that my eyebrows naturally tense up…
2. For those with bad eyesight, please wear contact lenses instead of glasses. If you take good care of them, your eye health won’t get worse, and it’s a much better choice than getting double eyelid surgery. It’ll be much easier to strengthen your eye opening strength when you take off your glasses, and you might have bigger eyes that you didn’t know were hidden by the glasses.
3. Diet
The best plastic surgery is diet… First, try losing weight. Your face will change a lot. Seriously.
4. Orthodontics
If you have crooked teeth, I recommend getting orthodontics first instead of spending the money on double eyelid surgery. After orthodontics, your chin will become slimmer and your lips will look prettier, and your face will change a lot. You can really make your face prettier just with orthodontics. The
article is longer than I thought, so I don’t know if anyone has read this far… That’s why I really want to discourage people who are trying to get double eyelid surgery at a young age. If you think that your growth has stopped even by high school, you really shouldn’t.
And since buried eyelids are more likely to come undone, I had the mindset that I absolutely had to have an incision, so I did it. But you might regret it a few years later like me, so if you do get double eyelid surgery, I hope you get buried eyelids if possible. It’s relatively easy to find cases where buried eyelids came undone, but it’s really, really hard to find cases where incisions were removed, and you can’t completely go back to your old eyes. I really regret getting the incisions.
I hope that young people who read this article won’t end up regretting getting double eyelid surgery like I did… You really have to be careful when deciding on double eyelid surgery, and you definitely have to visit many hospitals. I just went to the hospital that my friend went to, but I think it's really necessary to visit several places and compare them.
