It has been 110 days since my protruding eye surgery.
[Specific surgical method]
Since I had a triple eyelid, I performed two-wall surgery by tearing down only the lower wall of the orbit.
[Effect]
Each eye is recessed by about 1.5mm, and if you take a picture from the side so that the other eye is barely visible,
it looks like the bridge of your nose is about 3mm higher than before. The hospital said that 3-5mm would go into the eye, but I think they were saying that based on taking pictures from the side.
[Side effect]
The interpupillary distance became closer by about 2.3mm. It is difficult to see in photos taken at close range, but if you take photos from a distance (more than 5m), you can clearly see that they are crowded by about 2mm to 2.5mm. However, it is difficult to convince the hospital of this.
(As I will describe below, I had a CT scan at another hospital to solve this problem, and the doctor there explained verbally: "It was observed that more of the tissues surrounding the eye had moved into the eye, and because of that, the eyes were closer together. To prepare for these side effects, be sure to:
1. Measure the PD distance (interpupillary distance) at an ophthalmologist
before surgery
, or 2. Measure something that can be used as a measure of length from a long distance (more than 5 m). Please take a picture with the card attached to your face.)
Anyway, the important thing for me is not to convince the hospital, but to restore the eye distance to its original state, and
I asked the doctor who performed the surgery if surgery to widen the pupil distance again is possible. I saw it.
However, the doctor seemed unsure about the surgery to widen the inter-pupillary distance to the exact number (2.5 mm), so the hospital gave up on further surgery.
We are currently undergoing consultations at other hospitals to resolve this issue.
