There are a lot of miscellaneous stories
, but I want to tell you in advance that
the main point of this post is not a recommendation, review, or blacklist, but
a post to discourage plastic surgery. I had my first surgery a few years ago at a plastic surgery clinic in Apgujeong
, which anyone who has been in the plastic surgery community would know
. At the time, I had a clavicle and nose job.
There are some side effects to clavicle surgery, but
I will only talk about my nose.

- Nose job -

At the time, I lived in the countryside, so it was not easy for me to travel around Seoul
for a plastic surgery consultation
. After much persuasion, I came up to Seoul with my mother and,
after looking around about three plastic surgery clinics that caught my eye,
I made a reservation at the one where the director was the kindest.
It was a long time ago, so I don't remember well, but I think I had osteotomy in the first surgery
and used silicone, ear cartilage, and septum.
My original nose was very low (there was no bridge at all), small, and spread out.
After the surgery, my nose bridge was created, but my forehead was too high,
and because my nose was so low, the tip of my nose was crazy low due to fat, so
when I looked at it from the side, it looked like an I-shaped nose.
Should I say it looks like the side profile of a cat?
I told the hospital about this and had a second surgery.
I think they added ear cartilage for the second surgery.
After the second surgery, my forehead was lowered and my nose bridge was created,
so my nose shape was somewhat complete,
but since I wanted a half-sun before the surgery,
they made
the border between my nostrils and the bridge of my nose sunken
. Also, my left nasal passage became too narrow, making it difficult to breathe, and
I had cartilage protrusion at the tip of my nose. It
wasn't a shape I particularly liked, but
since I have a very dull personality, I just lived with it, but
when my breathing became too uncomfortable, I visited that hospital again.
( I wonder if the results would have been very different
if I had gotten a refund and had the surgery done somewhere else
ㅠ) I stupidly got another reoperation...
I got surgery three times at the same hospital, with the same director...
Even though this person
was an ENT specialist, not a plastic surgeon, there was a functional problem ㅠㅠ
In the third surgery, they said they
would use donated costal cartilage since there was no cartilage left.
My breathing improved after the surgery, and the nasal tip cartilage drooping was alleviated.
The sunken border between my nostrils and the bridge of my nose was still there, but
the problem that had been bothering me was somewhat resolved, so I was able to live my life like that.
I got reoperations once a year for three years, and
three years have passed since the last surgery...
This time, my nose started to get sagging.
As I said above, I have a very dull personality, and I
was sick of plastic surgery itself, so no matter what other people
said , I only cared about it at the time and didn't think much about my nose.
(As a side note, a guy asked me for my number and
I said, "Is that because I had a nose job?" So
I said, "Yes. But why?" and he ran away ㅠㅠㅋ)
The reason I'm telling you this useless story
is because I want to say that even if plastic surgery goes wrong, your life can change a lot
depending on your attitude
. If you think about it, aside from the two years or so after the surgery when the shape was fine,
I lived for about three years
stressed out because of my ruined nose shape.
I was criticized
by everyone from strangers to my boss and boyfriend
. But I didn't hide at home and cry and complain.
I worked, dated, and traveled. I lived like that.
Although I have a timid personality, I tried to be generous when it came to my nose.
If someone said something about the shape of my nose, I would tell them to pay for the surgery.
Even if you're thinking about getting another surgery,
don't just stay in a corner of your room unless your function is so damaged that you can't live a normal life.
Sometimes, in plastic surgery communities, there are a lot of people who say they want to die because their plastic surgery went wrong.
People only see what they want to see.
Stop looking at that nose that makes you want to give up on life.
I know it’s not good, but stop looking at the mirror. Stop taking selfies. Stop looking at old photos.
Take care of your current state of mind and body, not your face.
I wrote this in the hopes that
those who have had and are having a hard time like me
will be strong and fight on. Then…
My acquaintances and friends kept pointing out my nose, and
even my mother, who used to say that it was pretty, asked why my nose was so upturned…
In fact, I didn’t want to go under the knife anymore, so I tried to live with this condition.
However, surgery became inevitable. I developed
contractures.
At the time, I had never thought about contractures, so
I didn’t know exactly what contractures were.
I belatedly protested to the hospital where I had surgery three times, and
even though they said they would do a second surgery, they refused and I received a refund.
After that, I started looking for hospitals
that would do a second surgery , taking the medical records that I had requested from the hospital where I had surgery
… At first, I looked into removing them, but
many hospitals looked at my nose and
said that even if I did remove it, reconstruction would be inevitable.
They said that the appearance would get much worse than it is now.
(I also found a perforation while going around to the hospital)

This is a hospital famous for removal in Seongye Hospital.
Maybe that is why he was the only one who talked about removal
rather than reconstruction
. He suggested removing all of the donated ribs and
recommended open cartilage repositioning.
I don't know how the cartilage repositioning surgery is done, but
he said that they use all of the small amount of cartilage remaining in both ears.
The director said that
we should remove and reposition the cartilage and wait 6 months before
deciding whether to do reconstruction.
He said that it would be better than now, but that it would be just right
and he couldn’t guarantee the shape of the nose.
There was also a mention of autologous rib,
but the director said that the director
hates leaving scars on a woman’s body and
only does the minimum surgery. He
probably would recommend autologous rib first if I went elsewhere, but
he told me to think carefully about it.

This is also a hospital that is often mentioned as a removal hospital in Seongye Temple and
is the only place where I had an endoscopy.
After the endoscopy, I confirmed that there was a perforation in my nasal septum.
The director
explained that my nose was distorted due to repeated surgeries, which caused contracture and made breathing difficult.
Normally , when contracture occurs, the implant is removed and
the skin is softened after waiting for 6 months, but
in my case, quite a bit of time had passed and the condition of my nose was very serious
, so he said that he would perform surgery using costal cartilage right away.
He also showed a negative reaction
to the cartilage repositioning that Director SSS mentioned,
saying that it was not a surgical method suitable for my current nose condition
. During the consultation with the director, two methods were suggested.
The first was to use costal cartilage as support to correct the nasal septum and lower the columella,
as the director had suggested
. The second was to harvest the remaining ear cartilage and use it instead of costal cartilage.
Ear cartilage is inexpensive and does not leave a scar on the chest, but
it cannot act as a strong support like costal cartilage.
He said that the nasal septum cannot be straightened.
In other words, ear cartilage is not as strong as costal cartilage.
However, if only costal cartilage is used for the bridge of the nose, it will become too hard,
so he said that he would peel off the donated dermis called Megadum
.

This hospital is also famous for removal in Seongye-sa.
When I told
the director about the perforation of my nasal septum that I found at ㄱㅇㅅ,
he looked inside my nose and
said that immediate surgery would be difficult. He
also said that even though 3 years have passed since the surgery,
my skin is still hard and the inside of my nose will not be in good condition, so
he recommended that I wait 2-3 years while doing a stem cell transplant
and have the surgery once the contracture has eased a little.
(It's not exact, but he said that stem cell transplant
should be performed without removing the nasal prosthesis.
I remember he said that the reason was that if the prosthesis was removed, more serious strain would be put on the nose and
the situation would worsen.)

After looking into my nose,
he said that it seemed like a lot of miscellaneous things had gone into it and
he emphasized that I had to do a good first surgery.
He mentioned ear cartilage and autologous dermis silicone
as materials to be used in the surgery
. He mentioned donated rib and autologous rib
as the main materials,
but since I used donated rib in my last surgery and had contracture,
I expressed my concerns about using donated rib, and
he said that there isn't much difference between donated rib and autologous rib as long as the materials are used well. He said
that donated rib will be performed under general anesthesia and
autologous rib will be performed under general anesthesia.
During the consultation with the director , I think I couldn't properly ask about the parts I was curious about
because I felt burdened by the price

JY is a mid-sized hospital with a director who is famous for reconstruction of contracted noses.
In fact, the place where I had my first surgery was also a mid-sized hospital. Maybe
because of that influence, but because of some strange prejudice,
all the places I went to were private hospitals, and
my first consultation at JY
ended without me being able to ask and answer as many questions as I wanted.
That's why I visited here for consultations twice.
I had a CT scan during the first consultation, and
the consultation was based on the CT results.
The CT scan showed that
the inside of my nose was not straightened out as I had heard during the consultation at GYS, but was distorted.
They said they would improve that part as much as possible, and
while showing me cases of contracted noses like mine,
they explained that they would use autologous ribs for both the tip and the bridge of my nose.
After consulting with the director , I made a deposit because
he said I could adjust the surgery date or cancel it
. On my way back after finishing the consultation, I got a call from the director and
asked if I wanted to do it then, saying that the surgery date suddenly became available
. He told me that it was an earlier date than the one I had told him.
It was exactly 3-4 days later, and he said he would give me a discount if I did it then.
I said I would think about it some more and did not set a surgery date.

I also tried to get a 101 consultation, but
I canceled because the date was too late.
As a result, I got the surgery at a different hospital, not the hospitals mentioned above. I
got the surgery for nose reduction, ear cartilage, silicone, and costal cartilage, and it's been 10 days since the surgery.
The director who performed the surgery said that
when he opened up his nostrils, it was a mess, and that
he had a hard time scraping out the filler between his eyebrows along with some unknown material, and
that it seemed like the contracture was caused by the mixing of various materials. (At the hospital where I had the surgery before, they never said they injected filler ;;)
The reason I haven't written a review about this hospital
is that although the shape has improved, I still have nasal congestion and a foreign body sensation.
My nasal congestion was worse than I thought, so
I will wait and see if this part improves with the hospital's aftercare and
write a review then.
I don't know if this hospital will be black or recommended, but
even if the appearance improves like this, the functional part is dissatisfactory and I regret
having a nose job.
If you take an X-ray of a person's face, the nose is the only one without bones.
Also, the sense of smell is the most sensitive of the senses that humans have.
The nose, which is made up of cartilage, capillaries, and fine nerves,
is a more delicate organ than we think.
Plastic surgeons also
say that nose jobs are more difficult because they cannot be predicted until they are opened,
compared to contouring surgeries that can be planned and performed in advance
with CT or X-ray. This is because nose jobs are the most appropriate balance between aesthetics and functionality among plastic surgeries
to achieve perfect results.
Therefore, touching the nose is very dangerous and
is like living with a time bomb for the rest of your life.
Even though I did a lot of research and had the surgery
, I keep regretting that I should have asked more, thought about it slowly, and looked around more diligently
. I'm afraid that the nightmare of the past will repeat itself.
If you really need plastic surgery in your life, do a lot of research and do your homework.
Don't be easily fooled by recommendations from acquaintances, online reviews, or exaggerated advertisements.
Study the area you want to get plastic surgery on thoroughly.
Check if the director and the head of
the department write the charts carefully. Check if the surgeon is a plastic surgery specialist.
Write down your questions carefully before the consultation.
Be sure to record the consultation.
Look up the doctor's career and reviews carefully.
Take a lot of pictures before and after the surgery, from different angles.
And if possible, don't have surgery.
